Historic tour of Schadau Castle
1847 - 1852 built by Alfred de Rougemont and Sophie de Pourtalès on the site of two previous buildings. Designed by the Parisian architect Pierre Charles Dussillon.
Sandstone staircase and carved decorations created by the Dutchman Josef Hubert Verbunt.
Style: Romantic historicism with reference to Loire Castles, English Tudor-Gothic and Renaissance forms.
The castle and park have been the property of the city of Thun since 1925, and have been used for a variety of purposes (tearoom, emergency apartments, boy scout camp, military museum, art exhibitions and a toy museum).
Guided tour: The tour lasts approximately 30 minutes, maximum number 15 people.
